The Usual fortnight's Christmas holidays were granted. The Agricultural Department wrote, requesting that the council should clear noxious weedß from the gravel' reserve at Trentham. The matter was ,rel< . red to the inspector, and Councillors Whiteman and Edwards. It was also decided to draw the attention of the Department to the' gorse on Cheviot Road, at Lowry Bay. The Inspector of' Works reported that recent' gales had frequently blocked the Hutt-AVaikanae track. On the Main East Road from the Taita to Heretaunga depressions or were so frequent at a recent date that he was compelled to put carts on to repair that portion of the road. A month ago the road wbb in very goodrepair, and had it not been for the heavy and continuous motor traffic it would; not have, needed attention for •>»' couple, of years.
