ATHLETIC SPORTS.
« CRICKET MEETING OF MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. The usual meeting of the Management Committee of the Wellington Cricket Association was held in the Civil Service Club-rooms last night. These were present: Messrs. C. G. Wilson (in the chair), Midlane, Crombie, Brice, Burton, Fanning, A. E. Wilson, Martin, aJid Beechey. In reference to tie proposed visit of Otago to Auckland, the chairman announced that this would not now come off. In consequence the original fixtures would stand. The Wellington eleven leave on the Wednesday before Christmas and play in Auckland on Deoember 25, 26, and 28.
It was arranged, in response to_ a letter from the Wednesday Association, to play the mid-week games to-morrow afternoon, instead of this afternoon. In response to a letter from the Marlborough Association, December 25 and 26 -were arranged as dates for a match with a Marlborough representative eleven.- .
The Wellington representative team for Auckland and Otago was announced to be as follows:—F. A. Midlane, J. S. Hiddleston, C. G. Wilson, AV. Baker, K. H. Tucker, H. E. Burton, W. R. Gibbes, W. S. Brice (captain), C. Robinson, T. R. Southall, J. Burns, and J.. TJiokson (12th man). Mr. 0. G. Wilson -was appointed manager of the above team. It was stated that Messrs. Hickson and Cate ,-were not available for the team. •• • THIRD-CLASS FIXTURES. The following are the third-class fixVires for Saturday:— Karori v. Marist Old Boys, at KaTori. Central v. Old Boys, at Kelburn Park. JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP FIXTURES Junior championship fixtures for December 12 and 19 are:— North v. University, at College Ground; Central v. Institute, at Basin, No. 4; East v. Old Boys, at Basin, No. 3; Marist Bros. v.\ Porirua, at Porirua (train 1.20 Thorndon); St. David's v. Upper Hutt, at Petone; Hutt v. Petone, at Petone. JUNIOR ASSOCIATION FIXTURES. Fixtures for Saturday are:— Senior Grade.—Thorndon v. Evans Bay, Anderson Park; Kilbirnie v. Star,. No. 1, Athletic Park; 'St. Anne's v. Harbour Board, No. 1, Wakefield Park. - Junior Grade. —Wanderers v. Kilbirnie, No. 2, Athletic Park; Druggists v. St. Anne's, No. 3, Athletic Park;' Star v. Harbour Board, No. 4, Wakefield Park; Kirkcaldic's r. D.1.C., No. 2, Wakefield Park; Post and Telegraph v Athletic, No. 3, Wakefield Park; Selwyn v. At a meeting of the Cricket Associar tion last night communications-were, re'ceived from Canterbury and Wellington -Associations declining to alter the dates already .'fixed for. matchos with ..Otago, The possibility of making, a trip to. Auckland was discussed. The..opinion: of the delegates was that in view of the nature of the replies from the provinces, named and the improbability' of a representative team being got together to travel to Auckland after the holiday season, combined with the somewhat serious financial aspect, the idea of playing there this year be abandoned. It -was resolvedto notify the Auckland Association to this effect, thanking it for the offer of financial inaucement.
