THE MAN, IN THE BELFRY (Rec. December 8, 1.30 a.m.) London, December 7. Details of the bombardment of Lampernisse show that 500 French soldiers were sleeping in a church, when a spy hidden in the- belfry signalled to the Germans by means of a lamp, when the Germans opened-a Vib&nt bombardment. The first volley killed a dozen sleeping Frenchmen, and the church was soon in ruins and few escaped unwbunded.
