The pfeintiff, who had been a fireman on the tfnion Company's Aorangi, fell down the crank-pit of tho (steamer on February 26 last, sustaining at fractured skulli arid, injuries to tlio kneo and the enroll of the , back. Medical evidence showed that, ono result of the injuries woold be permanent partial incapacity, and the plaintiff would be able to take light employment only.'.: His'average'weekly earningn at the time of the accidrat w§r© £2 16s. 2d.. and since the accident he had beenin receipt of £1 Bs. Id!, per week. The Court awarded him a lump sum of •£2S(J, with 6 guineas costs and witnesses' expenses.' .. ; ,■'.. Frederick James Banks, a waterside worker, ■ was the plaintiff in. the second case, and the defendant was again the Union Steam ShjpCov, Ltd.
