SAILORS FRIEND SOCIETY
There was a large audience at the Sailors' Friend Society Institute last evening, when Madame Mueller provided a most delightful concert. Mr. J. Mooro, missioner, ocoupied tho chair. The following contributed vocal and elocutionary items Xo the programme:—Mesdames Mueller, Downes, Misses Hartloy, Diinmtfck, Wilson, Halliburton, Harper, Mueller Messrs. Downes, Reid QUI.S. lonic), R. Matchett (s.s. Buteshire), Green (R.M.S. lonic),' and J. Matchett (s.s. Buteshire). Mrs. Downos and Miss Eva Edwards played tho ' accompaniments. Mr. Grct-n won the mouth organ contest, and tho conundrum competition was won ))y sailors from ships in port. During ij, short interval Mr. Moore delivered a helpful temperance address, resulting in several men taking tho pledge of total abstinence The performers wero accorded a hearty vote of thanks at the conclusion and the National Anthem w*,s sung. Tho debate was well attended on Tuesday evening, the. subjects discussed being "National .Prohibition ,, and "Britain's Relations to Germany."
