MEETING OF THE EXECOTIVB. A meeting of the executive of the Royal Life Saving Society was held at the Y.M.O:A. last night; Mr. G. S. Hill presided. ■ . . . . ■■•'' 1 A letter was. received from the Hawke's Bay Centre in regard to holding a surf reel competition in Napier at the time of tho championship meet-' ing, and asking the Wellington Society to eend a team to compete. The matter was referred to the Surf Bathers' Council. . ,'■■'■
: Intimation was received from the' Controller of Customs to theeffeot that! the appliances for life saving t • purposes, which consisted / of a lifi ; and ' life saying belt, would, be admitted to the Dominion free of duty. ■ ';.!.., ■ ; The chairman announced that at the end of the month there would be •at least 60p'membors undergoing & course of. training for the society's awards, and as there was more work. to do than what the instructors could cope with he hoped that several more would volunteer a 9 the matter was an urgent one. ' Proficiency certificates were granted to Messrs. Percy D. Owen, Raymond Wilkie, and Philip D.., Edwards, of the Wellington College class. Mr. E. B. Lathey, of the eame class, was granted a teacher's certificate. ■ ■ It was decided to grant Mr. H. E. H. Bird, of Nowtown, an honorary instructor's certificate.. , .
