MINING NEWS

AUCKLAND A. & P. SHOW (By Telegraph—Press Association.) Auckland, November 26. , The Auckland A. and P. Association openod its annual summer show to-day in threatening weather. In spite of the drought and the departure of 60 many district fanners for the front, the entries are quite up to the average,-and the quality of the stock coming forward is winning praise from experts. Only a proportion of the sections were judged to-day. The bulk of the judging will take place to-morrow.

EGMONT A. & P. SHOW

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Hawera, November 26. The weather was threatening all day for the second day of the Egmont Show and later in the afternoon rain fell, : still the attendance was large. The final championships were:—Draughts, entire, E. Short's (Feilding) Meteor; reserve, E. Short's Topagallant; thoroughbred, entire, J. Davidson's (Hawera) Husbandman; mare 8.. Hidks (Hawera), Calceolaris.

(By Telegraph — Press Association.) Dunedin, November 26. The Otago A. and P. Show was concluded to-day. There was a large atrtendance, but owing to the heavy rain many people left the ground between three and four o'clock.' The takings for the two days were £4100.

The Auckland wool sales were held .today. TheTe was a record entry o! 1220 bales. Prices all round showed an increase on the', corresponding sale of last year. Finer wools were in good demand, averaging a-Id. increase. Coarser wools, lid. increase. Bush wools also showed. an improvement, sellers receiving Bd. to 9d. per lb. The best prices of the morning's' sales were 12d., for crossbred merino and Shropshire, and Hid. for coarser varieties.
