Pepper, Section 3, Block V, Mauiigakaretu, 134 a. lr., non-residence—Resolved to take no. further action at present. At this stage: the board proceeded with, the examination of applications for Section' 83, Block VII,. Mangahap, 44a 2r., and decided which of these should have preference. Out of over 200 applicants,' 12V of which were approved, Mr. A.- lv. Carter, of Ballanco was selected. . P. Jensen, Junr.. applied to lot tho grazing on Section V Block IV, Kopnaranga, 166 acres, to W, H. Eeckler, irom November 16, 1914, ,to August 16, 1915, at per month,' and it .was resolved to grant him permission to'let' the land from month to month, for. 12 months,-the board reserving'"tho. right' to determine the permit on a'monthly'notice it it is not satisfied with the progress made in the erection of a residence. G B Gibbons applied to register H. S. Gibbons his substitute for residence on Section 1, Block VII, Huraia, 1443 acres', and'it was resolved to approve, h. F Foster applied to register D. Mackenzie his substitute for residence on Section 13, Block XII, Whirinaki, 1120 acres, and it'was resolved S._and II Parker applied' for exemption from residence on Section 6, Block 17, Hau- ! rangi, in order.to profitably work other ' land on Wairarapa Lake, and it was resolved to grant exemption from residence for 12 months -under the provisions- of Section 161 of the Land Act,' 1908. . Tho following improved' form settlers applied for further advances under the provisions of'regulations of August 24, 1914 and it was Tesolved to recommend the 'previous advance in each case being mentioned in brackets:—H. It was fesolvgi to grant Mrs. M. Strong a pormit to occupy Section 21, Block I, HoropitoNWest Township, from year to year- at. a .Tent of -il 14s.' Gd. per annum subject to the usual conditions. A renewed ' application from S. Hunt was considered for portion of Section 44, Block XII, Mount Cerberus, as a better fencing line, and it was resolved to decline it. • . , ' A report was submitted by District Surveyor A. M. Roberts upon about 3900 acres of Crown lands in Blocks V and VI, Rimhine, and it was resolved to instruct the surveyor to' subdivide the land if possible into four allotments. It was resolved to approvo of Mrs. E. M. Mackenzie felling a strip of bush 011 tho boundary of. Section 28, Block j X, Urautoi, and her holding, to allow 1 of erection of fencing line, provided tho whole expense is borne by the applicant. The application of the Lovin Borough Council to -exchange three • municipal reserves in Levin township for Education Resorve, Section 2, Block VIII, 2 roods '37 perches, was again considered, and it w;as. resolved to' further postpone to next meeting.. ■• Owing to resumption; for railway purposes of portions of sections shown on schedule 29302/26, it was resolved in terms of Section 144 of tho Land Act, 1908, to approve of the rentals being abated as -indicated thereon as from July 29, 1914. M. Alpass wrote' requesting that arrangements bo made to provide a dairy factory site in Section 83, Block VII, Mangahao, 44 acres 2 roods, applications for the land having closed •on November 25, and it was resolved to decline.
W. Cowern asked for a reduction in the price charged him for house-blocks and sleepers under his splitting license at -R-aurirnu, and it was resolved to re-
(luce the royalty nn sleepers to .£2 105. per 100 and house-blocks to ljd. per'foot. It was resolved to grant licenses to Messrs. H. T. Warner and. G. H. Price of the strips of Crown land fronting their holdings, 15 and 16, Block" XIV, Manganui, for a term of five years under Section 130 of the. Land Act. 1903,: at the rental recommended. by the ranger. Licenses to foe subjeot to the usual'conditions.' ' " ■■.-'*' It was resolved to . rcoffer' on' renewable lease the settlement lands'described-on schedules attached to records 1 14528 at tho rentals stated-thereon.' .- ■■■'■ It was resolved- to approve of Walloon Settlement hoingj classified as follows ;— : First-class land. Sections 5 and 6, and ■'second-class land,' Sections 1, 2, 3, and 1. It was resolved to decline A. T. Gardiner's application tor a lease of Section 7, Block IX,. Jtanganui (Survey Kesorve), and Section 11. Block XIII, Manganui (Bridge Reserve). "With reference to a permit granted in June, ISO 9, to AV. L. Armstrong to occupy small strip of Crown land as a site for a whare near Owhango, it was resolved to determine it, as he is no longer in occupation. It was resolved , to approve of. tho amount received for improvements on Sections I and. 11, Block 111, .Hawtrey Settlement, being, dealt with as follows; — £$ 6s. lid. to be deducted for arrears of rent and costs, and balance to bo paid over to person entitled to receive it. - It was resolved to .determine P, N.
Cameron's permit to occupy 8 acre paddock ill Pitt Settlement ns from November 1, 1914, and to approve of Messrs. August Bros, occupying same paddock under a similar permit from, that dato at same rent and subject to the same conditions.
It was resolved to givo W. Wilson twelve months' notice of determination of Ms lease to occupy part Section 375, Block V, "U'airqn S.D. (20 acres) with the view; of then offering this land on renewable lease at a rental based on ranger's valuation. It whs resolved to offer- tho .following sections for cash by public auction at upset prices as follow:—Section 30, Block ], IGikahi V.S., 32 perches, .£2O; Section 32, Block I, Kakahi V.S., 32 perches. .£2O. Section 32 to be weighted with .£250 for improvements.
It was resolved to approve of Section 15, Block XVI, Eiiangarua S.D.; area 633 acres, being offered on renewable lease at a capital value of .£5780, inclusive of improvements. (Rightof-way, about 3 roods to Pahaoa Block, to be excluded.) Classified as second-class land. It was resolved to offer Sections 16 to 64 inclusive. Block V, Karioi S.D., under Part 111 of the Land Aot, .1908, at the prices fixed by the ranger. ■ Hi Crawley applied to be allowed to Eurchaso the freehold of Section 166, •look XVI, Nukuniaru, and it was resolved not to dispose of the freehold at present, but to allow the present lessee to remain in occupation temporarily for a further period. It was resolved to accept the surrender .of T. S. Fagg's lease of Section 4, Block XV, Horopito AVest township, and to 6ell the land to the Wangahui Education Board under Section 140 of the Land Act, 1908, at the original value of The Mangaweba Town Board forwarded proposals for the expenditure of thirds acorued to April 1 last, amounting to £5 14s. id., and it was resolved to approve subject -to investigation by the .ranger and so far as the amounts are stiir available.
