Mr.. A. C. Pearco has been elected as councillor for the Kalratara Riding of the Featherston County. He obtained 116 votes at the poll, his opponent, Mr. H.Daysh,-having one vote recorded in his favour. . Mr. A. D. M'Leod has been re-elected-chairman of the Featherston County Council, and Mr. John Martin reelected treasurer. • . A garden fete in aid of the funds of St. John's Vicarage was held at the residence of Mrs. W. Barton, "Fareham," on Thursday, and was largely attended. Much credit is duo to Mrs Barton, who organised the undertaking, and to the committee of ladies who conducted the various stalls, which were placed about the spacious grounds, i The financial results will be very satisfactory.
