PRESBYTERIAN ASSEMBLY
(By Teiegranli—Frees Associationl ■ Dunedin, November 26. The Presbyterian General Assembly concluded' 1 its. sitting early this evening. The Homo Missions' Committee was empowered to make various grants requisite for the year's work. Mount Albert (Auckland) was raised to tlio position- of a sanctioned charge. , The presbyteries, with the consent of the Homo Missions' Committee, were, empowered to raise to sanctioned charges missions fitted for the position. A grant of £-10 waß authorised to bo made from the Home Mission Fund to the Chalmers Church in order that the church might bo worked on the Otago Church extension platform. . The report on tho Synod practice was remitted to the next General' Assembly. It was resolved that wherever practical the first Sunday in May bo observed as the Biblo Society Sunday. Tho report of the finance committee showed that the estimated . expenditure for tho year was £2250, and to meot this the committee recommended an assessment on the funds at tho rato of 5 per cent. The Otago Bible Society's report, which was adopted,, set forth that during its existence it had raised £16,000 and spent ovor £1000 for colportago in Otago and sent free contributions of £6100 to tho British and Foreign Bible Society and £4877 to the National Bible Society., in Scotland.
