VICTORIA' CROSS AWARDS. .(Rec. November 26, 11.25 p.m.) London, November 26. Victoria Crosses have been awarded to the following:—Private Godley, who fought a machine gun at Mons during a hot firo for two hourß after being wounded. Driver Drain and Driver Luke, who volunteered and saved the guns at Lo Cateau-when the Germans were only a hundred yards off. . Major Yat'e, of the Yorkshire Light Infantry, who fought in the trenches at Le Cateau until the ammunition was exhausted, and then led a charge of nineteen of the survivors, in which he was mortally wounded. Lance-Corporal Holmes',, who assisted to save a gun at Le Cateau, Captain Bradbury (deceased), who organised the defenco of L Battery, at Nery. ...... Captain W. Johnson, who, at Missy, throughout September 14, worked two rafts with his own hands, bringing back the wounded and returning with ammunition, thus .enabling fch© advance brigade to maintain its position across the river.

Bombardier Harlook, who was wounded at Vendressb .on September 15, but persisted in returning, to lay his gun. Havildar Ghunga Singh, the first Indian to be recommended for tie Victoria Cross, commanded- fifteen Indians who were defending a trench, and who killed sixty Germans before being overpowered. The Havildar was the only survivor. Ho snatched a German officer's sword, killed ten before he fell, and was left for dead with five wounds.
