(By Tole?raph.—Frees Association.) WaikoUiiitl, November 24. The Hon. J: Allen addressed a meeting at Waikoiiaiti to-night, and Was accorded? a good hearing by a large audience. He dealt mostly with matters outlined by him in his address at Milton, but inade particular reference to the Omarama run 6. He said an. alteration had certainly been made in the pastoral, leasehold tenure, but in. regard to these runs Mr. Massey was not aware they . wetre held by absentee pwners, nnd they would not be allowed to be occupied by people. living out of the colony. The Governments borrowing policy was defended, and it was argued that taxation had been reduced. Naval policy 'was also, dealt with, and the Minister advocated training men locally as against grants to the Home Government. A hearty vote of thanks to Mr. 'Allen alid confidence in' the' Government was carried Unanimously.

Hogan, who represented Wanganui in Parliament for six years, and who was defeated by Mr. Veitch last election, to-day announced his candidature for the Wanganui seat as a supporter of the Liberal Party. Webb, the Social Democratic candidate for the Grey seat, addressed a crowded meeting at the Opera House to-night. He received an excellent hearing. ; His speech waa devoted to an indictment of the Massey Government for broken pledges. He also dealt at length with the Huntly disaster and mining legislation, and criticised the attitude of the local Reform journal towards him. At tho conclusion of his speech he received a vote of thanks.
