A DESPERATE DEED (Rec. November 25, 0.50 a.m.) London, November 24. The Allies last week attacked - Lombaertzyde (above Nieuport) prior to an assault. News , bad been received that a. large convov of ammunition • .had reached an old fort, and a British colonel callcd for two volunteers to l)low up the convoy. They succeeded. The infantry clashed on Lombaertzyde, caught the Germans in conf.ision, and cleared the town, the English monitor causing heavy losses during the retreat. Both volunteers escapcd unhurt.
