ATHLETIC SPORTS.

ROWING HANNON, IN WELLINGTON. "Paddy" Hannon, 'the Wellington candidate for the professional rowing championship, of New Zealand, who learned how to use the oars on the Parramatta, has returned to tho City from a visit to his relatives at Tanmarunui. Hannon. is trying hard to bring off a match with Webb, of Wanganui, but owing to pressure of work Webb will not be able to row, though apparently anxious to do so, until the end of March next. Hannon lias succeeded in raising part of the second hundred to make up the £200 stake demanded by the ex-cham-pion of the 1 world, and is hopeful of raising the balance within the next week or two. when he will formally challenge Webb to row. for the New Zealand championship (forfeited by W. Fcgwell some months ago). Hannon looks fit and we'd, and is as hard as nails after hie sojourn in the bush.
