ORGAN RECITAL
The city organist, Mr. Bernard F. I Page, prepared a very attractive pro-' I gramme for Saturday night's organ recital, and the selection was'greatly appreciated. Thero was a fine variety in the items, and tho capabilities of the big organ over which Mr. Page presides wore finely displayed. The opening number on Saturday liight waß in memory of Earl Roberts,, and the audience reverently stood while Chopin's stately "March Funebre" was played. The programme included two compositions by Cesar Franck: 'Fantasia in C" (Op. 16) and "Pieco Heroique," delightfully played'. Glazounov's "Prelude : < and Fugue iii D Major" (Op. 93) was thoroughly enjoyable. The "Prelude" to Act 1 of Wagner's great love tragedy, "Triston, and Isolde," which concluded the first part, was treated in Mr. Pago's brilliant style. A typically characteristic composition of the great Russian composer Tschaikovsky, in the "Intermezzo from Suite for . Orchestra" (Op.' 45), was full of interest; whilst KargElert's "Harmonies du Soir" displayed fche organist's versatility and complete mastery of interpretation. 'Throughout Mr. Pago seemed to live in the musio he played, and the recital' was an, artistic treat, a fact which the audience demonstratively appreciated'.
