. WELLINGTON CLUB'S SEASON OPENS. The 'Wellington Amatenr. Swimming Club officially opened its season at the ■To Aro baths oil Saturday ''afternoon by holding two open handicap races. A large gathering of officials and swimmers were present, and the racing was very interesting, and • the events were keenly contested. Tho competitions resulted as follow:— 50 Yards Open Handicap.—Lyford, 1;' sl ozar 'o 2 o ; I>arsons . 3- Won by a touch. Juno, 33sec. There were 22 starters. 100 Yards Open .Handicap.—Ballard. 1; Farnail. 2; Meyer, 3. Won by a touch, lime, 86 3-ssec. There weio 14 starters. Intending competitors are asked to take an early opportunity of registering with tho club, as the official lists are incomplete in consequence of tho absence of last year's officials with the Expeditionary Force.
