There was a brief struggle with tho invisible toe, who slashed and stabbed tho Germans until they became panic-stricken and fled in fear. The four Gurkhas re-, turned unspathed. Daylight revealed silent mitrailleuses "and the gashed bodies of fifteen of tho German defenders. ;
