FOOTWEAR ACT
DOWN UPON SHODDY,
The following regulations apply to the Footwear Aot of last session, to come into force on January 1 next: — _ "1. Where a statement of the material or materials composing the soles of any boots or shoes is required, pursuant to Section 4 of the said. Act, to be stamped on or impressed into the outer surface of the soles of those boots or shoes, the following provisions "shall apply:—
"(a) The statement 6iiall be Btamped in indelible ink on tho soles of such boots or shoes and shall be in bold type of such size and distinctness that the statement may he read with case by any person.of normal sight at a distance of at least sft.; or "(b) The said statement shall bo impressed into tho soles by meaiiß of sunk or branded lettering of such sizo and distinctness that the statement may bo read with ease by any person of normal silght at a distance of at least sft,, or shall be embossed on the soles in lettering of like size and ditsinctness.
"2. Every person who manufactures for sale, or sells, offers, or exposes for Bale, or has in his possession for sale, any'boots or shoes the soles of which are required to be stamped or impressed in the manner prescribed by the last preceding regulation, but which are not so stamped or impressed, shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding £10.
"3. Nothing in these regulations shall he deemed to limit or restrict the provisions of Sub-section (3) or Section 4 of the said Act."
