lABOUR CAUCUS AND THE TOTALISATOR
QUESTION OF INTRODUCTION IN ' NEW SOUTH WALES. Sydney, November 19. A caucus assembles to-day to decide the question with reference to the introduction of tho totalisator. It is believod that feeling favours the movement.

Sydney, November 18. In. the Assembly, Mr. J. H. Cann (State Treasurer) announced that the Government had not yet decided to in-, troduce the totalisator.
WHEAT DIFFICULTY IN NEW SOUTH WALES.
Sydney, November 19. The Government wheat seizure has considerably affected trade. Several firms have stopped buying, causing a number of men to be thrown out of employment. The Opposition considers the scheme 'robs the producer for the benefit of the city consumer. The Commodities Commission is circularising the colliery proprietors with a view to fixing the price of coal. (Rec. November 19, 9.50 p.m.) Sydney, November 19. In the Assembly, Mr. J. H. Cann (State Treasurer), replying to questions, said that the Government was communicating with the other States in the Commonwealth in reference to the wheat question. Tho matter was allowed to stand over till Tuesday next.
DOOMED STEAMER NORFOLK.
Melbourne, November 19. The steamer Norfolk, which caught fire off Wilson's Promontory a few days ago, is bumping heavily and iB making water. Tho engine-room crew has been forced to leave the vessel.
WIRELESS ON SHIPS.
Melbourne, November 19. The Executive has approved a regulation reducing the charges for wireless messages to and from vessels licensed in Australia and New Zealand to sixpence a word. For British ships the charge remains at elevenpence.
SYDNEY HARBOUR TRUST.
Sydney, November 19,
The Harbour Trust's annual report shows that the receipts were £469,528, and the expenditure £132,017. Tho tonnage of the vessels that entered was 9,437,310, and' the number 10,142. The imports were valued'at £553,613,030, and the exports at £31,105,773.

Government industrial undertakings resulted in a net saving of £9921 last year.
TO AUSTRALIA VIA PANAMA.
(Rec. November 19, 9.40 p.m.) Sydney, November 19. Tho'steamer Cassis, the first vessel to make the journey to Australia via the Panama Canal, has arrived at Perth.
FATAL FIRE IN A REFORM SCHOOL.
(Reo. November 19, 11.20 p.m.) New York, November 18. An oil lamp caused a fire in n Florida reform school, ten persons being burned to doath. One hundred boys escaped through the skylight and down the fireescapes.
