MODERATE LEAGUE

A meeting under the auspices of the New Zealand Moderate League is being held at Petone this evening for the purpose of forming a local committee to further the interests of the league in Petone. His Worship the Mayor, Mr. J; W. MacEwau, will preside, and among the speakers will be members of tho Central Executive. At s meeting held on Monday last, numerous remits for the conference on November 27 were considered, and various resolutions were mentioned bearing on the activities of the league. Tho secretary reported that since inaugurating an active campaign for membership and funds the response had exceeded expectations, some hundreds of applications having come to hand each day for the past fortnight. Other centres reported the same keen interest in the league.
