ATHLETIC SPORTS.

CRICKET MEETING OF THE ASSOCIATION. Mr. 0. G. Wilson presided at a meeting of the Management Committee of tlio Wellington Cricket Association last night and there were also present: Messrs. M. J. Crombio, H. E. Burton, J. Fanning, and F. M. Martin. Mr. H. G. Hill was elected an honorary member of the association. The North Cricket Club notified the •Association that it had been decided to withdraw the club's third-class team from the championship. Likewise- the East Club notified the withdrawal of its third-class team. Mr. Fanning: That's bad for the youngsters. Tho Chairman: Yes, but with the two teams out that does away with the necessity for a bye.' That's one satisfactory feature of it. It was reported that dates of representative matches had been confirmed as follow: —December 25 and 26, v. New South Wales Teachers, at Wellington; December 25, 26, and 28, v. Auckland, at Auckland; January 1, 2, and 3, v. Otago, at Wellington; January 8, 9, and 10, v. Canterbury, at Wellington; January 22, 23, and 25, v. Southland, at Wellington; FebruaTy 12 and 13, v. Hawke's Bay at Wellington. The secretary was instructed to apply for the necessary permission to charge for admission to the Basin Reserve on tho dates of representative matches. On the motion of Mr. Martin it was decided that an endeavour should be made to arrange a match .between the Wairarapa representatives and the Wellington junior representatives, to . be played at the Hutt on January 22 and

GOLF

THE WELLINGTON CLUB. The tie for the Islington Foursomes between Mr. and Mrs. A. Duncan and Miss V. Duthio and Dr. Webster was played off on Saturday, and was won by the former with a score of 2 up on bogey. It is the intention to hold the Christmas tournament again this year, and programmes will be distributed at an early date, A match has been arranged to be played at Heretaunga on Monday, November 30, between teams representing the club and the combined banks. Members are reminded that the Ranfurly Men's Foursomes will bo played on Saturday next. Entries close on Friday at 5 p.m.
