The New York Herald's" Paris edition states' that a British cruiser has destroyed the Turkish forts at Sheikh Said, opposite the British island of Perim, at the. eouthern end of the Bed Sea. A detachment of Indian infantry landed, captured the guns/ and dismantled the forts. The Turks fled after suffering heavy losses. The British losses were insignificant. . The High Commissioner for New Zealand reports:— ■' . ■ London, November 16. ' "The 'Admiralty announces successful operations against the Turks at Shiek Seyd, Cape Bab El Mandeb, at the entrance to the Bed Sea. Three battalions of Indian troops were landed under a covering fire from the Duke , of Edinburgh, which disabled the Turba Fort. The infantry attacked the enemy's position and occupied the hills commanding Manheli. The opposition weakened. Two hundred of the enemy escaped. We occupied the forts, and a large amount of a-mmunitioin and six field guns were captured. Our casualties were four men killed, and one officer and fifteen wounded."KURDISH OAVALRY DEFEATED BY.
