FOR BRAVERY
BOY. SCOUTS REWARDED. At 3 p.m. to-day an interesting littlo ceremony will take place in the grounds of tho Brooklyn School. The occasion will be the presentation of the Royal Humane Society's certificates to Scouts E. W. Platts-Mills and J. Baldwin, of tho Kelburn Corps, by His Worship the Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke). Tho incident which gives rise to this afternoon's gathering took place on Good Friday last, when the Kelburn Boy Scouts were encamped on the banks of tho Wainui Stream just above Mr. Grace's property. Scout Donaldson was having a swim in the stream when a Mrs. Dwyer noticed that he was in difficulties. She at once gave the alarm, 'and Scout Platts-Mills at once dashed into tho stream to Donaldson's assistance. As by this time Donaldson had lost his head, and was giving his rescuer a bad time, Scout Baldwin went to his assistance, and Donaldson was brought to the bank m an exhausted condition. In the opinion of those who- witnessed the affair Scout Donaldson would in all probability have been drowned but for the timely assistance rendered, and the facts having been submitted to the Royal Humane Society, certificates Wero issued to both boys concerned in effecting the rescue.
