BREAKING HIS PROBATION

A CONTINGENTER SENTENCED, (By Teleeraph.—FreSs Association.)

Dunedin, November 13,

In. the Supreme Court this morning, Edward Kelly, aged 20, was brought before Mr. Justice Sim for failing to comply with tho conditions of his releaso on probation after a conviction for breaking, entering, and theft at Queenstown in July. Accused reported himself in September and October to the police at Invercargill, and then left, and joined tho Expeditionary Force in Oamaru. Ho was arrested in Wellington. 'l'he sum of £6 7s. 6d. was owing. Prisoner, addressing tho Court, said ha wanted to go with tho Force, and would have been too late he had reported. Ho thought thero was no harm in going so long as ho made arrangements for paying tile money. Accused was sentenced to twelve months' imprisonment, the term of the original sentence.
