HUTT AND PETONE NEWS.
(From Onr Own Correspondent.) Last evening the Hutt -Valley Dramatic Society staged the comedy "Dr. Wake's Patient," at the Town Hall, Lower Hutt, the building being crowded to tlio doors. Tho performance, which was given in aid of a fund for tlio painting of St. James's Church, was much appreciated, and credit is duo to the society for its .excellent production of a somewhat difficult play. Mr. F. Mason was stage-manager, Messrs. R. House and A. Bennett joint secretaries, and Mr. W. Andrews property manager. An orchestra consisting or Messrs. Moore; Walker, and Russell rondered selections throughout the evening. Those who took part in the performance were: Mrs. E. M'Kenzio, the Misses V Johnston, T. Wakelin, M. Kingdon, Nora Natusch, A. Naugliton, and B. Findlay, and Messrs. F. Mason, R. House, H. Parkinson, J. Mason, L. Simpson, J. Hoole, and C. Natusch. At the fortnightly meeting of tho Upper Hutt Town Board, Tieltl on Thursday evening the local fire brigado advised that Cnptnin Wells had succeeded Captain Mansell, and mentioned that certain fire plugs which were out of order had been left to the foreman to repair. The Wellington Racing Club asked for further consideration of. granting a water supply. It was resolved in this connection that the club be asked to make application to be included in tho Town District, and then the water supply question could bo considered.
