CESAR FRANCE RECITAL.
Once again the people of Wellington are afforded to-night an opportunity of hearing the works of Cesar Franck, the great Belgian whose work will always stand as, a link between the classicism of Bach and the romantic epoch of Beethoven. It was undoubtedly the influence of Franck in France that brought the musio of that Country to the perfection it has at the present day. Among tho items of the programme will be the Piece Heroique, which was expressly written for the' inauguration of the colossal orgatf at the Trocadero in Paris at 1878, and it is a work in which we find Franck in one of his boldest moods. The Fantasia in 0, the Pastorale, the, Prelude Fugue ana Variation, the Andantino and the Finale in B flat go to make up a programme which should attract a large number of the musio lovers to the Town Hall. Some of the work which Mr. Page has done in compiling programmes of works from these modern composers for special recitals has been a great. acquisition to musical life here arid exceedingly advantageous all serious musical students, who would not, unless they went to Europe, have an opportunity of hearing these fine works.
