COMPENSATION ALLOWANCES
TO CITY COUNCIL EMPLOYEES. Four applications for compassionate allowances were granted by tlio Wellington City Councir last evening. ' ; . .' An allowance of £3 3s._ was granted to a man whoso boy was injured through being knocked down by a tranicar. Buddie inoved for a return covering all the compassionato allowances which the council was paying and setting out tlio ground on,which every allowance was granted. ,•' 1 Members 'said that the council must be paying oat. a Rood deal l of money in this way,-and that while they did not necessarily object to the allowances, they supported the request'for-a return. : • ■Councillor J.
