IS, Adams, M.Sc ; secretary," Mr. S. H. Jenkinson. An interesting paper on'''■'Explosives" was read by Mr G. Butcher; (Dominion Inspector of Explosives), at the conclusion of the formal business of tho evening. Mr. Butcher dealt in a'epmprehensive, manner with the different uses of explosives and the nature of the same. Tin l speaker also exhibited a collection of the "permitted'-' explosives which were examined by those present with interest At tlje' conclusion of the reading of the paper Mr. Butcher answered a number of questions, and a hearty vote of thanks was passed to him.
