In the Magistrate's Court yestenky, befcie Mr. W. G Kiddell, S M , a young mail named Thomas Robinson was charged with forging thenamq of Walter Rimage to a Post Oflice Savings Bank slip for £10, and causing Edward White to act upon it as though it were genuine. From the evidence it appeared that Ramage had left his banfc book in a box m accused's possession. On October 29 accused took the book, which showed an amount of £10 14s. in the bank, and in Ramage's name withdrew £10 of it. Ramage informed tho police, and on November 4 Robinson was arrested by Detective-Sergeant M'llveney and then admitted he forged Ramage's name because he was "hard up," and that he had given £6 of it to a friend who was also without money. Accused wa6 committed to the Supremo Court for sentence Bail waß allowed in £100, with two sureties of £50 ' , ALLEGED FORGERY A hawker named Joseph Nohra, alias Sorenson, had two chaiges of forgery preferred against (1) forging the name of J Auckland to a cheque for £9 12s, drawn on the Bank pf Australasia, Masterton, and uttering the same to Carl Albert Sauer, (2) on or about October 1 forging the name of F Bmith to «i cheque for £5 drawn on the Bank of \ustralasia, Morrmsville, and uttering the same to Stanislaus John Whiteford. Accused was defended by Mr. P W Jackson, and pleaded not guilty to the charges The defence was reserved, and accused committed to the Supreme Court for trial Bail was allowed in £100 with two sureties of £75 or one if £150 v INEBRIATES ' For drunkenness, William Tierney was fined 20s or three days' gaol, and Mary Lloyd 5s or 24 hours'. There were three first offenders.
