TRANSPORT ON FIRE AT SEA
SUSPECTED WORK OF SPIES ffiec. November 12, 0.5 a.m.) New York, November 10. Further particulars of the fire on tha French transport steamer Rembrandt, in mid-ocean—the vessel was carrying 500 horses to France—relate that the Rem'ftrandt's crew flooded the vessel, thus stamping out the fire. Every horse on board was killed. The ship was damaged, but will be able to return.. According to the captain, German spies started the fire, with, the object of preventing the delivery of the horses to Britain. The captain alleges that threats we're made before the vessel left Baltimore.
Lord Torrington visited the Central Recruiting Depot at Great Scotland Yard and enlisted ns a trooper in tho 19th Hussars. Ho was accompanied by nine other gentlemen jockeys, who enlisted with him in the samo regiment. Thoy are Mossrs. George Harry Heasman, Jack Drake, Percy Woodlands, Norman Nutt, A. .Arbuthnot, R. Arbuthnot, F. Blowers, H. T. Davis, and T. A. Roberts.

General Gallieui is a nativo of tho Haute-Gar-onne; General Pau comes from Mpntelimar, and General Castolnau is also from tho south. Thus southern talent and southern temperament have opposed tho strategy of tho north.
