4—, STAR-BOATING CLUB. ! ". / The Star Boating Club opened its racing season on Saturday afternoon with a trial fours race. The distance was one mile,' and the water was perfect. The following were the results of the various heats:— A. Tomlinson (str.), P. Hereford, W. Cedcrholm, and R. Deighton, 1; C. Carr (str.). P. Freyberg, R. Kennedy, and L. Eilers, 2. -t W.- A. Holmes (str.), E. Day, D. M'Grath, and D. R. Corregan, 1; H. Young (sir.), G. Field, E. Ihincan, and V. M'Caul, 2. 0. E. Holmes (str.), 0. J. Hurley,' Ward, and D. O'Sulhvan, 1; H. Pollock (str.), W. Higgins, L. Dovine, and P. R Dodwoil, 2. The first race was won by two or. three hundred yards, the second by one length, and the third by two or three lengths ; 'i To-night Tomlihson's crew and W. A. Holmes's will row the semi-final, the winning crew to row C. E. Holmes's the following evening.
