The Houlder liner La Correntina (8529 tons, built in 1912) has riot been' heard of for a month, and is possibly a victim of the German cruiser Dresden, which was recently on the Atlantic coast of South America. captured eight steamers of tho Woermann Line and one Hamburg-Amerika liner on the Cameroon River in West Africa.

Cumberland- (Captain Cyril Fuller) had captured tho. following merchant steamers off the Cameroon Kiver:—Max Brock, Kcnata Amsiuck, Paul Woermann, Erna Woermann, Henorett Woermann, Aline Woermann, Hans Woermann, and Jeanette. Woermann, all of the Woermann Line, and the A'rnfield, of the HamburgAmerika Line; total tonnage, 30,915. The .vessels wero in good order, most of them containing general outward and homeward cargoes, and considerable quantities of coal. European crows have been removed as prisoners, the native staffs being retained.
! The gunboat Soden was also captured, and has been commissioned.' It is expected that the floating dock Hartzogin Elisabeth, which had been 'sunk, 'can be raised. The Cumberland is one of the Countyclass of cruisers, and was completed at Glasgow, in 1004. Her armament is composed of fourteen (Knoll, eight Impounder, and three 3-pounder guns and ■ two torpedo tubes. Her best recorded speed is 24.4 knots, which equals that I of the Berwick and leads the class.
