JOTTINGS FROM PROVINCIAL CENTRES.. (From Out Special Correspondents.) PALMERSTON NORTH. A collision at Palmerston Railway Station yesterday morning derailed the engine of the Napier tram, leaving at 7 o'clock, blocking the- lino for two hours and delaying the train duo out for Waimanui at 7.10 till 9 o'clock. Ihe participants in the collision werethe A'apier engine and a shunting engine. They- converged at the points, both, travelling in the eaine direction. The Napier engine left the line, tore up the permanent. way for about 20 yards, and damaged the rails. Pending repairs, general traffic was somewhat dislocated, but tlio mishap occurred too early to interfere severely, with the show traffic, and the largo .crowds who put in an appearance for People's Day. Mr. W. T: Wood, formerly M.P. for the. district,, but recently residing in Australia, returned.by tho TJlimaroa. The local.
