THEFT OF TRUST MONEY
r~4~ ; SOLICITORS SENTENCED.;

Chrlstchuroh, November 5. _ Two solicitors, guilty of misappropriation of moneys, were sentenced : to terms of imprisonment by Mr. Justice Sim at the Supreme Court this morning. Thomas Maude was convicted of the theft of £1000 from Elizabeth Barnett, and pleaded guilty to the theft of £2400 from James Copland. His I "Honour said ttiat \>oQy ofienccs ■were ot a serious nature and it was his duty to inflict a substantial term of imprisonment. Prisoner would ba sentenced to three years' hard labour on. each indictment, the terms to be concurrent!-,' Frank Bowring Turner, who had pleaded guilty to fraudulent conversion of £77 18s. id., belonging Anne Jean Burges, also came up for sentence. 1 His Honour • said that in regard to misappropriation of"-'-clients', moneys by solicitors the general rule waa that the prisoner must undergo imprisonment.
