TROOPERS. (By Telegraph.—Prase Association.) Dunedln, November 4. At. a meeting of the executive of the Otago Patiotic' Association to-day Mr. P R. Sargood moved: "That tho sum of £20,000 be specially earmarked for the purpose of providing relief to returned troopers, or dependents of any of the troopers who have gone to the front, and that the amount be placed in the hands of the Finance Committee, on trust for the above purposes." After a lengthy-, discussion, in the course of which the opinion was expressed that the Government was not likely'to make adequate provision in the way of relief, the following amendment, pioposed by the Rev. R. S. Gray, was carried : "That, witha v.iew. to first ascertaining the intentions of the Government regarding members of the Expeditionary Force, who may be incapacitated and dependents of those who may lay down their lives for the Empire, the sum at" credit under the head of unconditional be in the meantime left unallocated."
