A-correspondent, describing the Russian Headquarters Staff, says that.there is no romance about'modern war. "No galloping aides, vibrating with excitement; war is now a huge business enterprise. 'The Russian Headquarters is situated in a secluded sDot in Western Russia, a number of switches connecting the spot with the main railway line. Here, in cars, living quietly, and peacefully, is a group of a hundred men, composing, the General Staff; A few panting automobiles, dashing here and there, two thousand Cossacks beyond, and hundreds of miles from this scene of tranquillity extends the enormous chain of the Russian front;' every point of which is connected by telegraphs.' In : these, cars here, free from the hurlyburly, are the brains of the army, able to command a. perspective of the whole theatre of the war." ' . ■
