ON ACTIVE SERVICE
SYMPATHY' OF BRITISH EMPLOY- ■ ERS - It,is interesting to. observe the generous treatment dealt out by some of the big ilrms at Home to _ those in their employ who,are rendering service to Great, Britain abroad. iMessrs. Mackie and- Co., Distillers, Ltd., for example, who are known in this Dominion as the proprietors of White HorseWhisky, pay, all'married nien and those having dependents .in, full while they are away. .--Not only..so, but their berths are kept, open-for them on return. The firm- then' goes a step further, and undertakes to give preference in employment in the future to men who have been associated with the defence forces'of the. country. The announcement 'in; this,' : connection _, was made by Messrs; .Mackie and Co. directly the war commenced. The benefit conferred applies to Territorials and to the" Reserve-Forces of both Army and Navy. :'
