"TIMES" COMMENT ON HIS ' RETIREMENT ' ' ("Timos" 1 and Sydney "Bun" Servicce.) London, October 31. The "Times,'" in. a leading article on the resignation'of Prince Louis of Battenbergj expresses-regret,: because liib action was, unquestionably the result of a campaign' of• suggestion, partly honest and partly monstrously unjust. He had been openly accused ; of weakness m allowing the,,sailors' point view to be swept to the background by the masterful personality of 'Mr. Winston Ohurchill; an'd : also had been attacked by gossip and innuendo on account of his German birthi t _ • "Regarding the Kecond charge, ' The Times" says,, "it is difficult to write wMi patience: of a case, wherera man has spent a. lifelong and. most distinguished career in the service of his adopted country." The paper, adds:' "Whatever, the, causes of his retirement, the Navy to which he, deyoted himself so long will continue to place trust and confidence'in one whom it regards with the greatest, esteem." : .. ■ The. paper points out that Prince Louis has two sons in the British Navy, one a lieutenant on the battle-cruiser Now Zealand.
