THE N.Z. CHAMPIONSHIPS RECORD BY A. DUNCAN (By Telegraph—P»m AsMolatlon.) ' Auckland. October 14. The New Zealand Golf Championship Meeting was continued to-day in per--1 feet weather. The first round of the amateur championship and the professionals' match woro played. Features 'of tho day were Al Duncan's record round of 71 and tho defeat of B. B. Wood by H. T. Gillies. PROFESSIONAL MATCH. The first round of tho professionals' c match resulted:—Clements beat Blair, sup and 4 to plav; and lies beat Watt, 2 up. M'Ewan beat F. G. Hood, 2 and 1, and M'Cormick beat D. Hood, 1 up. AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP. Tlie first round of the amateur championship resulted:—J. Harold boat H. E. Troutbeck, 2 up and 1 to play; H. Gillies beat B. B. Wood, 1 up at the 20th hole; L. Hales beat D. MacCormick. 1 up at the 19th hole; J. Goss beat A. H. Nicoll, 6 and 5; J. Banks beat G. H. Pell, 1 up at tho 19th holo; F. C. Fryer beat C. F. Gardner, 3 and 1; J. C. Burns beat G. F: Footo, 3 and 1; A. Soifert beat N. P. Green, 1 up: F. J. Sharland beat H. C. Tonks. 2 , and 1; S. Morpeth beat A. M. Clark, 6 and 5: F; Ross beat S. Turner, 2 and 1;. W. B. Colbeck beit H. G. Stringer, 4-and 3; W. S. Ralph beat R.-M. George, 1 up at the 20th hole:' F. 'G."Binney beat R. 0. Gardner, 4 , and 2; A. W. Clouston boat J. B. Lusk, 5 and 4; A. D. S. Duncan beat R. L. D. Kidston, 7 and 6. BOGY HANDICAP. _ The Bogy Handicap resulted in a tie between A. M. Clark (handicap 5), A. A. Martin (12), and J. B.' Lusk (7), who were two up on the colonel. ' ■ LADIES' CHAMPIONSHIP. WON BY MRS. WILLIAMS, OF MASTERTON. (By Telegraph—l'ress Association.) t Dunedin, October 14. The final for the New Zealand.ladies' golf championship, over 36 holes, was ■ played to-day in perfect weather, when Mrs. Williams, of Masterton, beat Miss E. Bell, of Wellington, 6 np and 4 to play. Miss Bell was 5 down at starting out on the second round in tho /afterjnoon but put up a good fight till dbrmy 5 was-readied. Miss Bell lost the next hole. The Consolation Match resulted in a win for Miss Duthie (Wellington), all 'square, Mrs. M'Carthy (St. Clair) being ! second, 6 down. The tie for the Donnelly Cup between Miss Glendiiiing and Miss M'lntosh was [ won by tho former. Miss Bell beat Miss Harris for the second trophy.
