TECHNICAL EDUCATION BOARD

• 1 INVALID COOKING CLASSES. The Wellington Technical Education Board mot last night. There' present: Messrs. J. D. Robertson (in the chair), J. P. Luke, W. Allen, J. E. Fitzgerald, and G. Frost. ■■ ■ ■ . ' The director (Mr. W._S.- La Trobe) presented a comprehensive _ report regarding the class in: : cookery. The headmistress (Misa'-Rennie), stated the director,' had reported to him. that the training of nurses.-in cooking for ■invalids was not satisfactory-. -There was the fact that the course was too short 'while the attendance of students' was very irregular. Miss Rennio's report had been submitted to the House Committee of the Hospital Board and. ho understood they'wore in agreement with it. The rational solution of'the problem was to establish a Dieticians' Laboratory and Kitchen at the Hospital and to mako a satisfactory' course under the dietician an 'integral part of the training of all nurses. Pending this he would suggest that in place of the present arrangement it would probably be found, advantageous if the board could' send the instructress up to the Hospital twice weekly to give lessons. The board decided to, submit the report to ,the ' House Committee of the Hospital Board before taking any steps in tho matter. The Master. Plumbing .Union -wrote notifying the board that, the president, would be the representative of the union on the Plumbers' Board of Control next year. Arrangements have been made.for members to : offer donations of appliances for students and■the board expressed its thanks for the .donations already made. The receipts for tho month totalled £886 6s. 4d., as compared with £500 16s. Bd. for the same month last year. A debit balance of £340 165., as com-, pared with £521 17s. Id., for October last year, was reported. Accounts amounting to £818 17s. lid. were passed for payment, (£894 12s. 3d. for October last year).
