The Government statistician, reporting on the forthcoming wheat harvest, 6tates that it does not appear that more than fourteen or fifteen million bushels are in sight, and might be considerably reduced unless further rains are received. Shortly previous to this the crojis showed thirty-eight million bushels in ,view. i TOTALISATOR IN NEW SOUTH WALES. (Rec. October 30, 1.25 a.m.) Sydney, October 29. Owing to financial stringency and the incessant clamour for the introduction of the totalisator it is reported that probably a private member will introduce a Bill on the lines of the New Zealand Act. Mr. J. H. Cann, Minister of Lands, states that the matter is under consideration, but be does not think there is any chance of a Bill legalising, the totalisator being introduced this session. ENGLISH-SCOTTISH BANK. (Rec. October 30, 0.5 a.m.) ' . London, October 28. _ At the meeting of the English, Scottish, and Australian Bank it was stated that when tho war began tho directors never felt the slightest uneasiness, thanks to* timely precautions and the unusually strong reserve in coin when the moratorium was enforced.

October 29, 8.20 p.m.) Mexico City, October 28. Carranza has tendered his resignation of tho Presidency on condition that Villa retires into private life. NEW SOUTH WALES ASSEMBLY. Sydney, October 29. The Assembly has passed a Bill providing for a month's Supply.
