MEETING OF THE BOARD The monthly meeting of the Land Board was held in the District Lands ana Survey Offico, Wellington, yesterday. There were present:—Mr. T. N. Subject to full particulars being satisfactory. MISCELLANEOUS. ' The Kaitieke County Council applied to hypothecate the thirds from sections in the' schedule attached to boards to meet payments on the following loans:— Kaitieke, Waimarino-Retarukg, Pukeatna, Pokatea-Kokakonui, Mihirangi, To llaire, Hikimutu. It. was resolved to rescind the resolution of August 27, recommending the formation of the following official road districts:—Hunua, Wa : ngauui' Valley, To Maire, Pokatea-Koka-konui, and to approve of the hypothecation. of the thirds from the sections enumerated in the applications of the council to bo applied m reduction of special rates over the loan' areas enumerated above. D. S. Cameron applied for a lease of recreation reserve, Section 28, Kohanga Village,- sa. 2r. lip., in lieu of Sections 7-12, 11-20, allotted to him on September 2-1. It was resolved to approve in terms of ranger's report. Mrs. A; M. Bustard had failed to take up her residence on Section 27, Block IV, Hawtrey Settlement, 1 rood, and it was resolved ,to take no further action at present. The following applied for flhe freehold, and it was-resolved "to approve:—H. H. Harris, Section 12, Block I, Tiriraukawa, &G0 acres; J. R. Powell, Section 1, Block tV, Retaruko, 1225 acres. . G. B. Cox applied for a lease of Section 25, Block.l, Puketoi, 1 aore 1 rood, Bridge Reserve, and it was resolved to giant a year-to-year lease to tlie applicant subject to usual conditions, at a rental of 20s. per annum. The Levin Borough Council asked that E.R. Section 2. Block XVIII, Levin Township, 2-roods 37 perches, be given to the council in exchange for Sections 7, Block XII, 7 Block XIII, . and 11 Block XVII, containing 1 rood each, to enable the council to extend its scheme for public gardens. It was resolved to postpone consideration to next meeting. T. Hine, who applied to purchaso the freehold of Section 45, Block XV, XVI, Ngamatea, by deferred payments, on June 2-4 last, asked for an extension until end of year in whidli, to make the first payment, and it was resolved to approve. S. S. Addenbrooke applied for extension of time until six months after conclusion of peaco in which to complete purchase of Section 4, Block VII, Mangaivhoro; It was Tesolved to grant an Indefinite extension with ;two months' notice of date in which to complete the purchase. , \ A number of settlers' in North Waimarino Improved -Farm . Settlement applied for advances in terms of regulations of August 24, 1914, and it was resolved to recommend for fhe- approval of the Minister the cases of B. T. Ralph (.£SO), W. St. C. Rainsford (.£75), Jas. Grace (.£so' liouse, i£so fencing, etc.), J. T. Taylor (.£SO), W. Taylor (£SO), A. M. A. Millynn (,£100). NON-COMPLIANCE. The following selectors had failed to comply with the conditions of occupation, and it was resolved to take action ns noted in each case:— i ' E. H. Monk, Section 2, Block X, Tauakira, 1874 acres.. Is residing on Native land adjoining. Eesolved to accept, residence there as compliance with the conditions. . J. L. Raynel; Section 2, Block XV, Horopito West i Township, 1 rood 35 perches,. non-residence. Desires to forfeit. Resolved to take action accordingly. Wm. Clifford, Section 15, Block VII, Owhango Township, 2 roods 4 perches, non-residence. Has good work in Auckland and does not wish to give it up. Resolved to take no action at present, G. Foster, non-residence on Section 13, Block XII, Whirinaki. • Explanation, asked to bo allowed to register a 1 substitute. Resolved to refer to ranger for report at next meeting. OTHER APPLICATIONS. R-. M'Cowan applied for a lease of about three acres adjoining Section 43, Manunui Township, and it was resolved to grant a year-to-year lease upon usual conditions and at a rental of ill per annum. . G. Parker applied for permission to remove buildings from Section 1, Block 11, Taihape Township, upon determination of lease, and it was resolved to grant permission for removal of buildings by the owner thereof. It was resolved to grant A. Bayno a permit to occupy ono acre of Section 38, Ohakune Suburbs (6 acres 2 roods 20 perches) from week to week upon usual conditions at a rental of Is. per week, pending disposal of the land. The Manunui Town Board applied for permission to use part of Section 14, Manunui V.S., E.R., as a sanitary depot, and tho. lessee having consented it was resolved to approve. Messrs. Adams and Bell applied for a continuance of a lease of Lot 1, Scotion GO.' Blook XVI., Ngamatea, 51 acres 2 roods, which they understand was held by Messrs. C. W. and H. AVilson, from whom they had purchased tho adjoining property. The commissioner explained that this land had been obtained by tho Crown in exchange for Section 77, Block XVI, Ngamatea, over which tho Messrs. Wilson held a year-to-year lease. are allowed free access to a portion of it for accommodation of travelling stock. It was resolved to approve of the amount received for improvements on Section 22, Block,l, Horopito iW. Township, being used in. liquidation of rent in arrear under previous lease. The application of T. Irwin for permission to occupy an area south of Owhango Railway Station was. reconsidered, anil it was resolved to grant a temporary permit to occupy from year to year under the special, circumstances at ,a. rental of 10s. per annum. . . It was resolved to approve of Section 3, Block V, Hawtrey Settlement, 1 rood 1 perch, being reoffered, on renewable lease at an annual rent of 14s. It was resolved to approve. of • the amount received, as'loading., for improve-' ments on Sections 7 and 8, Block IX Horopito West'V.S., being dealt with as follows:—.£l 10s. to bo paid into public aooount.and ;£3 10s. to-be handed over to .person" entitled to receive it. On a remcasurement of the area of felled and dead timber on Section 18,. Block 111, Makotuku, it was resolved to adopt the amended quantities shown on records 2D559 and to reduce the upset price of the timber to .£7BO and to offer it to the Rangataua'Timber Company at that figure. With regard to the proposal to dispose of Pahiatua No. 2 block it was resolved to/amend resolution passed on July 30, 1914, by fixing the capital value at .£5912. It was resolved to • reoffer Section 4, Block I, Horopito West Township,! rood, on renewable lease at a capital value oi .670. It was josolved to reoffer Section 31, Ohakuno V.S., at a reduced area of 17 acre 3 roods' .05 perches, on renewable lease at a capital value of .£130,' weighted with ,£25 for improvements. It was resolved to grant Thos. Kennedy a license to occupy from year to year an area of about 15 acres of Crown land adjoining his Section 3, at a rent of ,£3 per annum, subject to usual conditions, determination at any time, etc. Mr 3. M. Carr apnlied for an area of about 22 acres in Section 24, Block VI, Hautapu, to enable her to secure a better fencing line and it was resolved to approvo of tho sale to her at .£3 10s. por acre, provided costs of survey are paid. - It was resolved to grant R.. Pope a permit to occupy from year to year an area of about 10 acres of Crown land in Block XVI, Makotuku, at a Tent of .£3 per annum, subject to usual conditionsno green bush to be felled. It was resolved to recommend that the Kaitieko Co-operative Dairy Co., Ltd., be allowed to purchase an, area of about half an aero west of the Owhango Railway Station under Section 140 of tho Land Act, 1908, at the price of w£lo, provided that Mr. Carlson makes no objection and that the Dairy Company arranges to pay for the: railway, crossing necessary to givo. access thereto. ■ It was resolved to approvo of Soctions 2G, 27, and 28, Block, I.Umutoi, S.D., area GO2 acres,, being'offered as second-class land on optional system at tho price of iGI ss. per acre. W. Cowern applied for a : permit to split dead timber on the > area recently included in Mr. Bunfs. splitting permit, and it was resolved to approvo at the royalty recommended by' the ranger. It was resolved to reoffer Section 38, Hastwell V.S., 2 acres 2-rooda 3 percehs, P.E.R., on same terms as beforo .with unset rent reduced to per annum.. No improvements. The Mangawhero Road Board forwarded proposals for expenditure' of thirds accrued (portion only) to April 1.-last, and it was resolved to approve, subject to investigation by tho ranger and so far as the? amounts arc still available. Armstrong and Craig, -solicit tors, wrote on behalf of settlers whose names dppear on a sechdulc, asking that their sections be proclaimed.. a special roading district under Section 50 of tho L.%nd Laws Amendment Act, 1913. A.report was received from the Crown Lands Rangor as to the state of tho roads of access, and it. was resolved to recommend the constitution of tho special road district. It wa3 resolved to grant F. R. Pope a permit to occupy tho sections he applied for in Blocks IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, and IX, Horopito West Township, from year to year at a rent at the rate. of' 10s. por annum, subject to determination at any time and to usual conditions. It was resolved to approvo, tho ranger's recommendation with regard to granting permits to J. Dalton, T. Gordon, and — Miles to occud.v portions of river-bed fronting their holdings in Taptii V.S. It was resolved to offer Messrs. Foot and Roberts a license to mill tho timber on an area of about 55 acres of Section 28 Block X, Umutoi, at a royalty of .£l5O and to allow two years in which to cut the timber on this and an area of 35 acres, the license over which expired on September 30.
