Thompson, G.C.T., lligarlsford, grand secretary, and Qay acting as installing officers. During the evening votes of sympathy were carried in silence to tho relatives of Bro. Johnston, of tho International Supreme Lodge, and to Bro; Robertson on the loss of his son, and the secretary was instructed to forward letters of condolence to the bereaved ones. Initiation competitions were then held, Bros. Thompson and Rigarlsford acting as judges. The results will be rnado known in a few days. Two new members were proposed, and will be initiated next week. Votes of thanks to the visitors wore passed, and tho lodge was closod by Bro. Rose, C.J\ Tho celobration last evening of tho anniversay of tho Jackson Street Methodist Church, Petone, took tho form of n concert. The Rev. J. J. Lowis presided over a fair attendance. The bal-ance-sheet, showed that the finances of the church were in a satisfactory condition. During tho ovoning the choir, under tho baton of Mr. K Gamble, rendered several selections, and the following contributed to the. programme —Mrs. Weniar, the Misses Avison, Sutherland, and Smart, and Messrs.
