ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
FALSE TEETH SWALLOWED. AN. UNUSUAL ACCIDENT. A 'serious ,and unusual, accident oC« curred yesterday to a married woman named Sarah Ellen Tomlinson, residing at 51 Courtenay Place. She got out of bod at 5 o'clock in the morning, and in falling against the end of the bed she swallowed her full top 6et of false teeth. Her husband thought hie wifo had choked, and slapped her on the back. The remedy was fortunately effective, and dislodged the false teeth, but at the same time blood spurted out of her mouth. Dr. Whyte was called in, and he found that she was suffering from haemorrhago of tho throat, caused by tho teeth. The sufferer was ordered to tho Hospital. 'AFFRAY ON S.S. MANUKA. ' , As the outcome of an affray on board the Union Company's intercolonial liner Manuka at Wellington late last night a fireman named Martin Welch was admitted to the Hospital suffering from a broken left arm. A steward named Leslie Ken- was also sent to the Hospital to have a hand dressed. , The lattor's injury was not serious. ~" FATALLY CRUSHED. (By Tolenwili.—Press Association.) Hokitlka, 'October 27. Frank Allen, a single man, aged 21. who was crushed between a dray and the stump of .a tree at Wataha on September 23, died in Ross Hospital yes-terda-v, as a result of the injuries received. DEATH FROM BURNS. Ashburton, October 27. " Evelyn Irvine, tho girl who was badly burnt as the result of an accident at Rakaia last week, died in the Hospital this morning. - . DROWNED IN A WATER TROUGH. Clsborne, October Mr. Witters, president of tho A. and P. Association, was recalled from the Gisborne show yesterday afternoon by the sad news from home that his little boy had been drowned in a water trough. ' RAILWAY" FIREMAN INJURED. . A fireman named W. E. Wakelia, whilst engaged in shunting operations at Petone station, fell from an engine and was rather badly hurt. - After first aid had been rendered the injured man was removed to his homo on the Hutt Road.
