Rawlins's, 'l'ea Booms on Wednesday afternoon, when the Mayor presented trophies. The Mayoress and other prominent hockey petrous also attended. The winners of the honours were the following:—Mayor's prize, best work to keep the team together, Miss K. Smith; best. work as player, Miss M'Sweeney (ropresontivo goalkeeper); best forward, Miss. Nellie Hancock; most improved player, Miss Hancock-; best back, Miss Ruby Perriri. Afternoon, tea was part of the programme. This-club's team were runners'up for the championship and Hayward Shield. The woekly parade of the Carterton Defence Riflo Club, was held on Tuesday evening, the officer commanding the B Company, Major W. A. Tate, being present, accompanied by Lieutenant Goldsman. During the evening a presentation was made to Miss Marsh by young ladies of St. Luke's Church. The presentation was made by Mr. Keay. The vicar, uncle of the recipient, suitably replied. The music during the evening was supplied by Miss Hodge. : MASTEFITON. / , At a pieeting of tlie Mastorton Fire Board on Thursday it was decided that the present members of the Fire Brigado and Fire Police bo amalgamated under Superintendent Jenkins. The maximum number of the amalgamated body is to be thirty-three, of whom ten are to be detailed for fire police and salvage work. It was decided to place on record the appreciation of the board of tho services renderd by tho Fire Police, under Captain. Dixon. The Masterton Homing Pigeon Club flew an old bird raco from Auckland on Thursday. Mr. J. Dixon's Aralrara was tho first to arrive home, doing the distance of 300 miles in 91ir. 40min.

Teams from tho Mastertori. Bowling Club proceeded to Carterton on Thursday to contest the Booth Cup. They wore defeated by 69 points to 52. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Nops returned on Thursday from a visit to England.
