A sensational shooting fatality - occurred at Maghull, near Ormskirk. A pedlar named William Robert Dawson, aged 62, belonging to Morecambe, was attempting to cross a bridge over a canal, when ho failed to respond to the challenge of two sentries, one of whom fired. The man, who was taken to an epileptic homo closo by, died in a fow minutes.
