News has been Tecoived from liondon that the embargo on the export of galvanised iron was definitely withdrawn early in-September, and shipments are now being made again to some extent. Tho Home demand is large at present, the War Office and.the Admiralty both requiring large' quantitios of iron for the temporary housing of the Army. Lysaght's are supplying large quantities for this purpose. Over 1400 of Lysaght's workmen joined the colours during the first month of tho war, but the- firm have kept the various works going all the time. Tho spelter furnaces are going night and day as usual, and every effort is being made to keep up the supply. It is of interest- to lenTn that the War Office are now refusing to enlist the workmen who aro employed by contractors for wur ina- , innal of all descriptions.
