. . @ .— WEDNESDAY COMPETITION OPENED. The Wednesday cricket season was opened yesterday with a match, Veitoh ani Allan v. George and George. Tho result was a victory for the former by, 45 runs on the first innings. The nrfficipal scores were:—Veitch and Allan: Taylor 46 (retired), Osborne 31 (retired), King 21 (retired). Taylor took five wickets for 35; Dyson two for 18; and Skelley three for 24. For George and George, Mollinson made 10, Baker 23, M'Kay 11, and Clark 10. Clapshaw took ono wicket for 28, and Clark six for 55.
