RUSSIANS TRAP GERMANS ON THE VISTULA
SIEGE OF PRZEMYSL CONTINUES. Petrograd, October 19. Hundreds of German prisoners are reaching Warsaw as the result of the five days' fighting between lvangorod and Yiberoff. The Russian commander, learning that the Germans were preparing to cross , the river, baited a trap with several guns in an exposed position. During the night he concealed sixteen field guns nearer the river, and hurried infantry and four quicknrers forward. These hid in tho bushes on, tho river bank. , , The Russians allowed 2000 Germans to board rafts, and when they were landing fired shrapnel, causing havoc among the packed rafts. Many of the Germans jumped into the water and attempted to swim ashore, but Russian sharpshooters picked them off. All of the two thousand were either snot or the victims of the bayonet charges with which the Russians finished the aCt '°The Germane on the other bank were'unable to fire, fearing they might kill their own men. ' (Rec. October 21, 0.20 a.m.) , Petrograd, October 20. The siege of Przemysl is being continued without interruption. The German staff is directing the vigorous Austro-Hungarian defence operations.
