OTAKI NOTES.
The Maori contingent left here this morning to go into camp at Avondale. On the whole they are a fine body of men, some being leading athlotes. Honare Rawiri was;a member of the Native football team, whilo Pirimi, his brother, has ofttimes represented the Horowhonua Rugby Union.. _ Both aro also leading vocalists, and musicians, and ■will be missed locally. ' Prior to leaving, tlie contingent were' royally entertained at a ".social," when the hall was conBidorably overcrowded. A number of Europeans, having passed tho doctor's test, yesterday morning journoyed to Palmerston, whence they will go into camp at' Trontham. The majority of thorn are leading hockey players. • '
